Machen Florida Opportunity Scholarship
The Bernie and Chris Machen Florida Opportunity Scholars Program seeks to ensure that students from a diversity of family and economic backgrounds have an opportunity to attend UF. The program pays tuition and room and board for academically qualified Florida students who are the first in their families to attend college and whose families earn less than $40,000 annually. Over 2,900 students have attended UF via the program since it was launched in 2006, with about 1,500 graduates so far. Many have gone on to attend prestigious graduate schools, including MIT, Harvard and Stanford. Others are employed at major corporations and federal government positions.
