“What is the Good Life?” General Education Course

UF requires a general-education humanities elective for all first-year students to give students a common academic experience and the chance to reflect on the human condition and their own lives. “What is the Good Life?” draws on art, music, literature, history, religion and philosophy to encourage students to examine and discuss how to live well – both as individuals and a members of the global community responsible for making ethical and informed choices. The course involves faculty in numerous departments and centers, the Harn Museum of Art and the Phillips Center for Performing Arts.
