Provost Search Listening Sessions

Dear members of the University of Florida community,

As chair of the Provost Search Committee, I invite you to participate in one of two upcoming listening sessions as we continue the search for the University of Florida’s next provost.

The provost is one of the university’s most important academic leadership positions, and input from the UF community is an important part of the search process. The search committee and our search consultants would like to hear your perspectives on UF’s strengths, the opportunities and challenges ahead, and the qualities and experience that will be most important in our next provost.

During the listening sessions, we will focus on three questions:

  1. What are the greatest strengths of the University of Florida’s academic enterprise today, and what should the next provost build upon?
  2. Looking ahead, what do you see as the most important opportunities and challenges facing UF’s academic mission over the next three to five years?
  3. What qualities, experiences and leadership characteristics will be most important for the next provost to be successful?

Your perspectives will provide valuable insight for the search committee as we recruit and evaluate candidates for this important role.

We will hold two virtual listening sessions, and members of the UF community are welcome to participate in either:

Wednesday, September 16, 2026 | 10:00 a.m. ET

Zoom Meeting: https://ufl.zoom.us/j/94118585845?pwd=sToG0y5C4PcoxbmI5vujjO0PnFwQyj.1

Thursday, September 17, 2026 | 11:00 a.m. ET

Zoom Meeting: https://ufl.zoom.us/j/91723738558?pwd=l5QdOYvqKvEirj5NDUp39rdF4q2zBx.1

We also invite you to share your feedback through the Provost Search Stakeholder Survey. The survey provides an opportunity to respond to the same questions that will guide our listening sessions and is available to anyone who would prefer to provide feedback in writing or is unable to attend a session.

I hope you will take the opportunity to participate and share your thoughts.

Thank you for your engagement in this important search. We look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,
J. Scott Angle
Senior Vice President, IFAS
Chair, Provost Search Committee
